Hepatitis B is an infection that affects the liver. Vaccination is one way to help protect against it. At Pangbourne Pharmacy we offer the hepatitis B vaccination as a private service, so you can arrange it without needing to see your GP first.
This service is aimed at people who need the vaccination for work. That includes staff and students in roles where there may be contact with blood or bodily fluids, and people whose employer or training provider has asked them to be protected before they start.
What happens at your appointment
We will start with a short, private chat about your health, any medicines you take and any allergies. This helps us check the vaccination is suitable for you. If it is, your pharmacist will explain the course of injections and what to expect, then give the vaccine in your upper arm. We will ask you to wait with us for a short while afterwards.
Who it is for
The service is for adults who need protection against hepatitis B, most often for occupational reasons. If you are not sure whether it is right for you, or you have had part of a course in the past, do speak to us. We can talk it through before you commit to anything.
